PLEASE NOTE: Due to regulatory requirements around labeling of handmade bath and beauty products we cannot use descriptive terms such as “anti-aging,” “hydrating,” “acne-blocking,” “natural sun protection factor,” “wrinkle-defying” etc. However, once you have read the small amount of information on each of our ingredients provided, feel free to look each of them up to see how each is used in beauty and skin care routines worldwide. You will be amazed!!

Argan Oil: We start with a good dose of real Argan Oil (a cold-pressed oil extracted from the un-roasted kernels of Argan fruit). Argan oil has been used for centuries in Morocco as a beauty preparation and for various skin conditions. Unlike some formulations, Argan is not way down the ingredient list (here it is #1) and for good reason! Argan oil is rich in natural Vitamin E, antioxidants, and unsaturated fatty acids and has been shown to be helpful for those with both oily AND dry skin – score! Oftentimes, people whose skin has been damaged by harsh or drying products and/or commercial soaps that leave a scaly residue will see oily-looking skin/acne as a result of the skin trying to produce enough oil to heal itself. Carrot Seed Oil: High in both Vitamins C and E, Carrot Seed Oil is quickly gaining massive popularity in the beauty world, especially for mature or dry skin. Some believe it has benefits for those who spend a good bit of time in the sun or around significant sources of environmental pollution. Carrot Seed Oil has a distinctive golden yellow color and a sweet pungent scent with earthy and fruity undertones. Although we used a generous portion of this oil in our formulation, please know that this is Carrot Seed Oil itself, not the highly concentrated Carrot Seed Essential Oil; so no need to worry about too much of a good thing!

Jojoba Oil: For just about anyone familiar with natural skin care, Jojoba Oil virtually needs no introduction. Jojoba Oil is actually a liquid wax that is extracted from the nut of the shrub Simmondsia Chinensis, which is indigenous to the Americas. Due to its' similarity to natural skin sebum, it is excellent for dry or mature skin and may help balance skin oil production. Jojoba Oil is high in Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, E and a number of useful essential Fatty Acids.

Tamanu Oil: Prized in beauty formulations and massage oils, one fun fact about deep emerald-green Tamanu Oil is that it takes a full 100 Kilograms of Tamanu fruit to make just 5 Kg of Tamanu oil!! Research more thoroughly to see what people are using this oil for and you will understand why we had to add it to our formula!

Meadowfoam Seed Oil: Meadowfoam Seed Oil (pressed from the Limnanthes Alba plant) is somewhat similar in texture to Jojoba Oil. Both are fairly close in composition to natural sebum and as such are easily absorbed into the skin. It is very stable and some use it in formulations to help keep other natural oils from oxidizing. Added bonus – the plant this oil is extracted from is much more of an eco-friendly and sustainable crop than many others to boot!

Vitamin E Oil (naturally sourced): We all know by now about pure Vitamin E oil and its naturally high fat-soluble antioxidant content. Effectiveness of compounds in Vitamin E oil may be enhanced when combined with other antioxidants (as in this formulation). Research possible effects of Vitamin E application as related to natural collagen production. You may begin to notice the effects of Vitamin E oil on your face after weeks or even a few months of use.

Sea Buckthorn Extract: Chock full of Vitamins C and E and also certain essential Fatty Acids, there have also been a number of studies conducted to investigate possible benefits of Sea Buckthorn in regards to sun-damaged skin, Eczema, wound healing, and other skin conditions. Sea Buckthorn fruit contains four times more superoxide dismutase (an important enzyme that helps prevent free radical damage) than Ginseng.

Evening Primrose Extract: This light extract from the seeds of plants of the genus Oenothera is known to be rich in polyphenols and very high in certain antioxidants. There is along history of its use in both North America and China for various health and beauty routines. Also known to be extremely good in preparations for mature or aging skin.

Helichrysum Essential Oil, also known as “Immortelle” or “Life Everlasting,” is made by steam distillation of the flowers of the plant. Despite being present in lesser amounts than some of the other oils/extracts in this formula, this is Essential Oil one of the STAR PERFORMERS of this face serum. Helichrysum EO is truly prized worldwide both for it's aromatherapy uses and numerous skin-loving properties. Please search Helichrysum + skin benefits and Helichrysum + aromatherapy. It gives the formula a bit of an earthy, slightly sharp and almost honey-like smell that we find most pleasant especially in the morning.

Since we have not added any artificial fragrances or colors to this formula it bears a distinctive light green color and a wonderfully “plant-y” aroma that some have described as slightly akin to real maple syrup, others describe as more of a fresh dandelion leaves odor with a sweet, fruity undertone. The light green color will not discolor makeup if worn underneath.

HOW TO USE: Apply a small amount (one squirt is plenty for most) to the back of a clean hand. Using fingertips, dot around the face, being careful to avoid getting any in your eyes. Massage in and enjoy! It can be most effective when applied just after a shower or just after cleansing one's face and retiring to bed for the night. May be worn under makeup and/or in place of a moisturizer. Wonderful as a skin-loving boost after a day of sun, too.

Note: Due to the relatively short shelf life of some of the amazing natural oils in this formulation, it is recommended for use within 6 months of purchase. If desired, you can store it in the refrigerator to lengthen the usable time by a few months.

A note of caution: Please do a patch test on a small area (such as your inner elbow) before use to determine if you have any reaction to any of our natural ingredients. Very rarely, certain people may have a skin reaction to Vitamin E/Argan Oil or develop a reaction to Helichrysum EO over time so please do a small patch test to determine if you are part of this small minority. Tamanu Oil IS nut based so people with severe nut allergies should use caution until they know if this oil is safe for their use. Allergies or reactions to any ingredient may develop at any time; discontinue use if any reaction or discomfort occurs.
