Decadent Lip Balm - All-Natural
Decadent. That's what we're calling our new all-natural lip balm, because quite simply, that's what it is! Give it a try, and if you don't LOVE what it does for your lips we'll give you your money back, guaranteed!
As with all of our handmade skin care products, clean ingredients you can trust are a MUST. For these lip balms, we used only the finest naturally-refined Cocoa Butter. The Avocado Oil (highest grade first press) was infused in-house with real Calendula and organic Rosemary. We use only local naturally-filtered Beeswax in these balms (and in our Signature Lotion Bars, too!). Next up is our high-quality Tallow from pasture-raised and grass-fed cows. We are picky on where we get our Tallow, too! Last but not least, finishing touches of Jojoba Oil (actually a waxy ester that is similar in composition to your skin's own sebum) and pure Vitamin E Oil help your lips stay kissably soft and nourished. And that's it! No chemicals you can't pronounce, petroleum-based dyes or additives, or fragrance of any kind. These have a delightful light natural scent of Honey mixed with rich Cocoa Butter (but not the heavy scent often associated with unrefined Cocoa Butter, it's more of a Honey-dominant scent).
About our star ingredients (scroll down if you just want the main deets on the lip balm itself):
Avocado Oil is rich in Vitamins A, B, D and E as well as lecithin, potassium, beta carotene and amino acids. It is great for individuals with sensitive skin or formulations for mature skin.
Beeswax is also rich in Vitamin A, and may help draw moisture to the skin's surface and seal it in; particularly helpful in dry climates or harsh weather conditions. It also gives our formulation a nice “backbone” even in warm weather, so it won't get soft in your pocket on warm days.
Cocoa Butter is high in essential fatty acids and Cocoa Mass Polyphenols (CMP's), a type of antioxidant. It also acts as a potent humectant, allowing delicate skin to hold its moisture more naturally. Cocoa Butter may soak into the upper layers of skin, providing some long-lasting humectant properties even after the lip balm itself has worn off.
Tallow is quite rich in the fatty acids that form lipids similar to those found in healthy human skin. Tallow is often thought of as a “skin superfood” and is a primary ingredient in many high-end skin-healing formulations, since it provides superior moisturizing benefits without blocking up the cell barrier like petroleum-based products are known to do.
Calendula is a powerhouse from nature when it comes to any type of skin. Calendula, from the Marigold flower (here, infused into the Avocado Oil) is primarily known through the ages for it's skin-healing and nourishing properties. It may encourage natural collagen production and has potent anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It is often well-tolerated for healing even among those with other sensitivities. It is especially useful for poorly-healing wounds – those exhibiting extreme dryness, tenderness, or inflammation; and for prevention of severe skin conditions.
Rosemary (here, also infused) may help improve skin's circulation, leading to better natural hydration on the lips and an overall healthy glow on other skin areas. It has wonderful antiseptic/antimicrobial properties that may serve as a light natural preservative in any formulation that touches the skin often.
Jojoba is actually not an “oil” but rather a natural waxy ester that is quite similar to the sebum our skin produces naturally. The skin on our lips, however, does not have sebaceous glands; therefore we not produce sebum on our lips (this is part of why they can become so dried out).
Vitamin E Oil is both a nutrient and a potent antioxidant. Vitamin E Oil may help promote healthy levels of cell turnover and cell regeneration. It is easily absorbed on the skin and can soak deep into the layers, protecting skin's moisture and regeneration for long after the product has worn off.
For lips that have been damaged by sun, excessive wind, or for those who experience other skin conditions try applying the lip balm every evening before bedtime for a few nights in a row until the desired results are achieved.
These .15-ounce lip balms (product weight, full weight of tube is just over .3 oz each) come in a fun clear tube with a waterproof label with full ingredients listed and and a tamper-evident seal. The seal may be easily removed on your first use. They make great add-ins for gift baskets, party favor bags, fun gifts to give anytime OR a great way to care for and pamper yourself. Please do remember that the melt point is lower than the temperature of a hot car in summer, or the side of your radiator heater so be sure to store them in a cool place.
